At Tragaldabas we breed just one variety: the miniature wirehaired dachshund. Few litters, planned without haste, with health and temperament first. From our home have come champions whose bloodlines now run across Europe.

Bertín almost didn't make it: at two days old his mother accidentally crushed him, and Pablo saved his life. Ever since, in Pablo's words, they have shared “a special bond from the day he was born”.
At just ten months he was Best of Breed at the Madrid International Show. Weeks later, at his first World Show (Brno, 2021), he was Junior World runner-up, and to close the year he became European Junior Winner in Budapest.
For years he came within a whisker of the top title — runner-up at the World Shows in Geneva 2023 and Helsinki 2025, runner-up at the European Show in Brno 2025 — until June 2026 in Bologna, where he finally won it: World Winner 2026, Best of Breed and second in Group 4.
Outside the ring he is “a real home dog”. And as a sire he has already left his mark: his offspring compete and breed in Spain, Portugal, France, Italy and Russia.
Many people think it's about the most beautiful dog in the world, but it isn't. What counts is a healthy, balanced dog with a good temperament.

Each litter is named with a letter, in order. Few litters, carefully planned: that is how a bloodline is built. It all began with one female, Guiñol's Magic Dream.
Other breeders choose Bertín to improve their lines. “It's a source of pride to see other breeders want your dog to keep improving the breed,” says Pablo.

How we breed
One variety. Few litters. No shortcuts.
One variety only
We breed only miniature wirehaired dachshunds. Knowing a variety inside out is the only way to improve it.
Few litters
We breed selectively and unhurriedly, choosing every sire and every dam with great care.
Health first
Pablo holds a degree in Veterinary Medicine. “Good conformation doesn't mean the prettiest dog, but one that is healthier, more functional and enjoys a better quality of life in the long run.”
A winning temperament
“Confident, stable, sociable, outgoing.” That's how we want our dogs to be, in the ring and on the sofa.
Proven in the field
Bertín, Antares and Casiopea have passed the Teckel Club's SFK (gun steadiness) and PAN-R (natural aptitude) working tests.
A team effort
We work hand in hand with leading breeders in Spain and across Europe. As Pablo likes to say, quoting football coach Diego Simeone: “if you believe and you work, you can.”

Families all over the world
We receive enquiries from many countries. Every destination has its own travel requirements (identification, vaccinations, paperwork, transport), and we guide you so that everything is done safely and legally.
It depends on the time of year. We breed few litters, so the best thing is to write to us: we'll tell you what is planned and add you to the waiting list.
Can I have a puppy if I live outside Spain?
Yes. Offspring of our dogs live in several countries. Each country has its own entry rules; we help you understand them before you reserve.
What is the difference between a miniature and a rabbit (kaninchen) dachshund?
Size. The FCI standard measures chest circumference from 15 months of age: standard, over 35 cm; miniature, 30 to 35 cm; rabbit, up to 30 cm. We breed only miniature wirehairs.
What is the wirehaired dachshund's temperament like?
Brave, curious, cheerful and very attached to its family. It is a hunting dog in a small body: it needs walks, play and calm, consistent training.
The breed
The wirehaired dachshund
The dachshund — Teckel or Dackel in German — was developed in Germany to hunt underground. It is the only breed in FCI Group 4 and comes in three sizes (standard, miniature and rabbit) and three coats (smooth, long and wire).
The wire coat is dense and harsh, with an undercoat, a beard and bushy eyebrows that give the breed its wonderfully expressive face. The most typical colour is wild boar, a mix of light and dark hairs. The coat is hand-stripped a couple of times a year.
Well bred, it is a sturdy and long-lived dog. Keep it lean and avoid jumps from heights to look after its back.
